Lucy and Martha premiered Fine Bone China on 24th April 2010 at Mousonturm, Frankurt (produced and supported by Plateaux productions). The piece was also shown at PAD, Germany on 8th May 2010 and Arena Festival, Germany on 17th and 18th June 2010.

Fine Bone China is a task-based, part-improvised, part-choreographed performance that explores how we try to hold things together even when everything is falling apart. Lucy and Martha question Englishness, social conventions and how we all often pretend that “Yes, everything’s fine” even when we are clearly drowning. The performance takes place within a surreal minimalist set and playfully leads the audience to contemplate the gap that exists between our Romantic ideals and the bare truths of reality.
We’ve found it. Once and for all we have caught it: the ingredients for the most perfect teatime moment. We want to present it to you, to re-construct it for you exactly, precisely and then hold onto it. We want to rest in a limbo of loveliness where there are no raised voices and we are wrapped in a blanket of sugar.

About Lucy
Lucy Cassidy studied at Bristol University’s Department of Drama, Film and Television and has been creating contemporary performance with The Special Guests since 2002. Lucy also regularly collaborates with other Bristol-based artists (in and outside of theatre spaces).
- Martha
- Martha King is a performer and performance maker based in Bristol; working both as a solo maker and collaborator. She predominately creates movement based work, often responding to a given site. Martha is a member of Interval (an artist led support network that share rehearsal and office space at the Parlour Upstairs, 31 College Green, http://www.interval-bristol.org.uk/about). The Parlour Upstairs studios have been made possible by Capacity Bristol (http://capacitybristol.wordpress.com/) Martha is also a member of The Showroom Projects Ltd who manage The Parlour Showrooms, a fine art and performance venue in the empty shops below The Parlour. www.parlourshowrooms.co.uk The Showroom Projects are currently producing a 6 month program of performance and talks funded by ACE: inthecityseries.co.uk
